Iritty Educational society is the realization  of a long cherished dream of the hard working and enterprising people of this region. As there  was no Institution for higher studies near the locality, enterprising people with a vision formed Iritty Educational Society in 1982  under the Society Registration Act 1859 with the registration No S. 105/82. The Society prchased around 17 Acres of land and Keezhur kunnu, 4 km away from Iritty in between Mattannur and Iritty near thalassery-Mysore State highway as the permanent site for the Society.  The site is  noted for its scenic beauty, easy accessibility and calm atmosphere needed for  Scholarly pursuits. The tranquil atmosphere that envelops the region makes it an ideal spot for scholarly aspirants. 

Iritty Educational Society with the establishment aim of the society to provide educational facilities to the scholarly aspirants in and around the Iritty region has started an  Indsutrail training Institute during the year 1994 in the name of iritty Educational Society Industrial Training Institute (MG-ITI) with two courses wise mechanic motor vehicle (MMV) and Draftsman Civil (DC). Bothe courses have been affiliated to NCVT, Govt. of India.

Secondly, Iritty Educational Society has sanctioned an Aided College by the Govt. of Kerala during the year 1995 with three UG course. The college has been named as Mahathma Gandhi College, Iritty according to th bylaw of the Society.  Now the ollege is running with five UG Courses and three PG Courses.  The college is affiliated to kannur University. 

To add a further feather to our vision of Iritty Educational Society, We would like to commence some professional courses  for empowering youth and women  around our region.
